A new approach

The COVID-19 pandemic has left a devastating plague of mental illness in its wake in a society that was already struggling. Many of Dr. Lerman’s patients and colleagues struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more. Dr. Lerman was also not spared. She has identified herself as a wounded healer and has taken aggressive measures to address and tend to those wounds in various ways. She has her own personal Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist with whom she meets with regularly. She has also sought out psychedelic-assisted therapy for herself, which has greatly impacted not only her personal life but has given her the ability to witness what patients are going through during treatment. Dr. Lerman has earned a certificate as a clinical trauma professional, she has also received training in IFS, and ecotherapy. Dr. Lerman brings these approaches to the container space as she guides her clients on their journey. Additionally, she is a dedicated yoga practitioner and brings both yoga and medication to her healing environment.

Therapy, Transformed

Ketamine clinics are surfacing all over the country and many people will benefit from this treatment modality. Dr. Lerman sincerely believes that guiding patients while receiving ketamine is critical, as it is an opportunity for patients to reap the full benefits of this psychedelic drug. Most places providing ketamine do not offer this service. Additional psychedelics are expected to be legalized for medicinal use in the coming year(s). Currently, MDMA and psilocybin are not legal in the state of Colorado and can therefore not be provided by Dr. Lerman during a therapy session. Once legal, Dr. Lerman will offer these powerful therapeutic options to her patients in a guided therapeutic psychedelic session. At this time, the only psychedelic medicine approved for use in mental illness is ketamine, which many patients show tremendous response to. Ketamine coupled with guidance is the ideal approach.
